Replaced the center windshield brass fairing insert that was no longer holding with a threaded insert from Harley (16585-96). Used the instructions in this post https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...erts-pics.html and the repair went perfectly. I did cut a few threads with a 3/8 X 16 tap before inserting the slotted end of the brass insert and letting it finish cutting the remaining threads in the fairing. This allowed me to get the insert in straight and seems to have seated the insert firmly with no tendency to back out.

After reading the post referenced above, I checked the inserts available at my local hardware store. They had some but they are made for wood with very coarse outside threads on the insert. Not comfortable trying to thread them into the fairing so I'll just stick with the inserts from HD. I also just like the idea of cutting some starter threads with a tap for a clean start. Hey, what's a dollar or so extra per insert when I know they work! Hit the HD shop today so I now have some extra inserts on hand just in case any of the others start to let go too. Easy fix!

Installed Fullsac 1.75" CVO Power Core baffles and perforated muffler sleeves. Really woke up the CVO mufflers and bike. May buy a set of 2" CVO Power Cores just for grins, but really like the cursing volume of the 1.75" cores going down the highway.

Installed the standard RK windshield, Vance and Hines Dresser Duals, Fullsac 1.75 inch baffles. Also routed all of my Power Vision wires under the tank for a clean look while auto tuning with wide band sensors. Finally took it for a ride to datalog/dial in my new set up. Have to say, I'm very impressed. This set up has a mellow idle and cruise, but barks when getting on it. With the bigger shield, I can actually here my audio at high speeds (not self-incriminating lol)

Oh, I used the 09 version of the dresser duals so I could use my wide bands. Not really interested in the narrow band sensors. I have always programmed them off on my Vrods since I don't like my AFR to be with in their range..

Got up to 63 today so I took her for a spin around Brushy Creek recreational area. Beautiful fall color!
