Finished up my fork polish, rebuild, and installation of Pro-Action fork kit. I ended up putting in 42 oz. of Bel-Ray 20W fork oil.

Now I’m onto polishing the front wheel. This is what I’m starting with…

Corrosion…

Hindsight I would’ve powder coated the entire wheel. If you don’t mind the work, a good polished surface looks better than chrome,to me.

I like the OEM contrast vs powder coat. My back and hands ache from the week of fork polishing but I’m jumping right into the front wheel polishing. They don’t require as much work as the forks so I’m just going with 2000 grit then compound and polish. The dremel is going to be my friend for the rotor mounts…

Playing around with the Power Commander V today! Images are of the current tune that was on the bike when I bought it a month and a half ago. No Autotune, so as far as I know, this is just the generic map the previous owner installed. While this tune is for Bassani slip-ons and Screamin' Eagle air cleaner, a set of 4" slash-cut Kerker slip-ons are actually on the bike. (I do have a set of Bassani's in a box that came with the bike though!) I did download and try a tune for Kerker mufflers / Screamin' Eagle AC, but frankly I liked the other one better. Today's project is to try and tone down decel pop just a bit...which is currently pretty obnoxious. I tried a -10 value in the 0% throttle column beginning at 2000 RPM, and also a +15 value in the same region. The last one seemed to have a little effect on it, but it definitely did not eliminate it. I'll be checking the pipe connections, and may just replace the header gaskets over the winter. I don't know if they were replaced when the stock headers came off! :-)

These map settings look quite a bit different than what I have seen in other bikes from videos and such. I am DEFINITELY no expert on this stuff yet. The bike does run very well right now. So, I'm not going to play around with anything much until I understand it all much better!

you mean the little 12 volt round things? The puddle lights that shine on the ground? Yes, sorta. It started out that way, but got distorted when I made it that big. So now I had to hook up a projector so it would be bright enough to tape off and paint.

Nice!
I was just looking at a pair of these lights on eBay to possibly mount to my ceiling and project down onto the floor of my garage or even onto the pool table.

I’m in commercial lighting, so I play with lights all the time.

They are definitely cool, but the ones I got aren’t really bright enough unless it is dim or dark. I was planning to use them as puddle lights on the ground from the side cover or under my saddle bags. I thought of using them on the garage floor, but the only time I’d see them the garage lights would be on and they wouldn’t be visible.
