I was lucky to get the fork tubes w/ springs already installed, so all I did was drain the old oil out and refill w/ the specified amount, then stabbed them up through the trees.
I didn't even rebuild the seals because they were from a low-mileage bike.

I've heard great things about the cartridge setup, but it wasn't in the cards for me when these chrome lowers landed at my feet for only $100.

I'm still marking off the days for my paint to be finished.
Then it's on to reassembly.

I probably won't do more upgrades to this bike than what I have already started.
Now where have I heard that before

The irony isn't lost on me, but the only things left are internals like cams and such.
I have no desire to follow that path...
My buddy is going through it now;
S&S 110 kit, then new clutch, then new exhaust, then new intake, then, then, then.
It still leaks oil as bad as my old Triumph did, and he's had it back to the shop 4-5 different times because things aren't right yet.

I've done enough to this bike.
I want to enjoy it on the road for a while, not just in the garage.

Got a quick 20 mile ride in yesterday with the new to me rs-1 shocks. Intial impressions are less harsh on big bumps and smooth on the small imperfections. Have them set at 1 inch preload and 4 clicks on the black compression **** for 2 up riding. Wife said the ride was better. Thinking maybe they are about 75 -80 percent there. Just going to need some seat time to dial them in. RWD customer service has been very helpful

Slide your bump stops all the way down to bottom.
Then you and wife take it for ride.
The bump stops will tell you how much
Travel you are using and if your bottoming out.

Rode 192 miles today. Tried buell95 advice but couldn't get the bump stops to move. Used a old racer trick,a small thin zip tie to measure with. At 50 miles it only had about 1/8 of a inch till bottoming out. Thought it needed more so I opened up the black compression **** 1 more click for a total of 5 clicks. Checked at about 120 miles had a 1/4 before bottoming. Got home checked the zip tie and it was bottomed out. Wife said it was better with the 5 clicks. Going to try 6 clicks on the next ride. Definitely can feel the harshness in the front now.

I respect that. The key to modification, is knowing when to stop.
