do i just apply multiple coats?
I've used Testors. I have found nail polish works best for what you're doing. Neither will hold up to tools, but it's easy enough to reapply. I use clear on chrome bolts.

The method I have found to blacken bolts that stands up to tools and exposure is to heat it with a torch (removed from the bike, obviously) and dip it into dirty, used, motor oil. Does not need to be heated red hot, but well beyond too hot to touch. Several re-dos may be necessary to achieve the desired color.

For me parts colored that way, last for years.

good deal. wife's actually at the store now so I'll shoot her a text to snag some polish.

I don't anticipate needing to remove these screws but good to know still.

well that's definitely interesting. Sounds like something I need to remember for the future to try out, if nothing else just to see how it works in person

Would you mind giving some details on this set up? I've been looking for a good oil cooling set up for my 21 road glide limited; the front lower fairings limit me on my options. What brand is this and what did you have to do to get this set up?

Im still in the testing phase of this.
I only put 80 miles on it today. So far so good.
But I would like to make a few changes
And put some more miles on before I talk it up.

It looks that way nothing but tire kickers here.
I may yank the motor and all the after market stuff.
Put it back to stock then try to give it away.

Maybe you should let her know what it's for. She might start re-thinking her relationship status.
