There's a reason they won't do it. On my Springer that weighs less and doesn't go nearly as fast or as hard, I may not worry so much. But on this heavy beast that I bought to ride hard, no way. New tire. It sucks *****, but better than the alternative. I nearly died and won't take a chance I don't have to.

You guys make good cases for replacement. Have always known that patching from the inside is the strongest, but yes, if the tire is already off, might as well get a new one.

About 5years back I had been having horrible issues with blowouts on my 5th wheel, using ST tires, that were ALL being made in china. Tried about 5 different brands, and every time we hit a pothole, we lost a tire. That issue was nation wide and lots of RV'ers were screaming at tire companies because of it.

That was when I switched to LT steel belted truck tires, made in USA. Bridgestone Duravis. Have not had a blow out in 5years, and about 25,000 miles of towing. I did pick up a screw in one, and TPMS notified me, but did not see pressure below normal. Turns out the local tire shop had swapped tires front to back and did not mention it, so I could reset their location. Figuring my sensor might be going bad I drove it home, 50 miles. When I was parking it at home, I noticed something shiny on the OTHER tire on that side. Yup, had a big ole screw in it. Checked pressure and still had 55lbs. Normally run 80. So yes it was pretty low, and yes I was lucky.

My point in all this is, I wonder if tires are being made elsewhere, or to a lesser standard? Something to think about.

Worked on prototype of the bag lid/speaker setup.
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to match the fairing lights.
Planning all of the new connections under the seat.
More parts arriving tomorrow.

I’ll run this semi-matching orange connected to my ACC switch, just like the blue dash insert and speaker fairing lighting.

Spent a few hours on it again today.
Mocked up both lids, the engine guard and the lowers.
Tomorrow’s plan is to complete the re-pin for the speaker wiring, and removing the fairings to allow for the new stereo install and fitment check.
I’m not a bike builder, but I know that to ensure fitment and to avoid additional costs, I have to almost fully assemble the bike and THEN break it down again before sending anything out for paint.
Still waiting on a few critical parts.

Rode it to Milwaukee. Listened to a lot of really loud bike radios blasting **** no one could understand.. While at the same time going full throttle while sitting still in traffic.
But in the end. A ride is a ride.

Added some filler panel lights from Eagle Lights to the Street Glide. Still a work in progress. After that, took my Sportster S for a 100 mile ride.
