After that Saddlesore ride, the bike was pretty caked up with a thick layer of bugs.
So much that the first step to getting it handled was a trip to the power wash.
Today I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned.
Finally ready for tomorrow’s ride.

Back from a weekend trip to the k river campground in Oklahoma for the fast life camp out. 700 miles round trip and got to hang out with several buddies I only get to see once or twice a year. Had a blast but now that I'm home I've got to check the fall away in the front end. Feels like I've got a little slop in it at higher speeds and it's time for another check up anyway. Just pulled in the yard, snapped a pic of the poor filthy thing, unpacked and hoses the bugs off. I need a day to recover now lol.
While packing my hat in the saddlebag this morning, the latch/hinge fell apart in my hand.
The last remaining screw fell out on the ground.
I ended up taking 2 from the other side to get on the road.
Tonight I ordered (10) new #6 x 1/4” SS, replacement screws.
Ive already got the red loctite pulled out.

I installed a chrome belt guard. It fits over top the existing plastic belt guard..... https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...ver/p/60408-09
Kind of hard to see... But at least I know it's there

What a beauty! Happy for ya but while you mend, if you need someone to exercise it…….
You don’t want it to develop dry rot….!

Seriously though, I'll be getting new Metzler Cruisetech at the 1k service and all fluids will be changed. It will be on a charger. I have some parts to install and getting it off the jiffy will be good therapy. Two months won't kill her. Most bikes sit longer than than that over the winter. Trust me, after this, she'll never sit again.

I told my friend the same thing when he offered. That's very kind but I'd rather it rot than someone else break her in.
