What did you do to your bagger today?
Thank you, appreciate it. The chrome fork lowers I've been running for the past 5 years didn't age all that well, and showed a bit of pitting/corrosion. I am optimistic that the Ness stuff will hold up much better over time.
I hope for your sake they will. Ness is high quality, but nothing stands up to the mileage we tend to put on these bikes. Mine is just over a year old and I'm ready to do the 20k service interval now. I'm looking to change the sliders to black, but I know they will pit over time and miles. That's just the way it goes.
Finally went ahead and had the Ness Hot Legs Fork Lowers installed. I stole these fork lowers for $249 during their annual holiday clearance sale, they were regularly priced at $1000. I was working with Howard on a set of Ohlins cartridges to match my rears, but It's been like 4 months...then I read of his passing, so my experience makes sense, he did tell me he wasn't in good health. He never asked me for money though, even when he called me on March 9th.
Arlen Ness' former service mgr. now runs a very nice full service shop on the top floor of the Ness building, which happens to be around 10 minutes away from my house. Very nice people, they speak very highly of Arlen and I have no doubt he was an amazing human being. In the meantime, I'm happy with the results. Maybe one day I'll figure out the front fork cartidges, but today isn't that day.

I've had the H-D chrome forks since I bought my King new in '13 and they still look good.

I'm 35-40 miles inland now, but yeah, even garage kept chrome doesn't seem to age well here!
Changed the backrest pad holder thingy to the fancier one. And yes, that is the technical term for this part.

FWIW, I met Arlen many years ago at Del Mar. I was riding an old Triumph chopper back then, and had the opportunity to show him how I modified a few of his parts to work on my bike.
I believe he said "looks great, nice job, cool bike"
We spoke for only a few minutes, but he was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

I added a Kuryakyn extended brake pedal, floorboard spacers and a triple tree wind deflector (I have no idea if this will do anything) to my 21 RKS.
