Went for a test ride with the new backrest. Well I didn't know what I were missing I think I'll move it one notch back and test again.

I have a rider backrest on my Heritage and Ultra. Not sure if I would ever own a bike without one!

I have a fixed backrest I’ve done some adjustment with the bracket all the way to the rear then angled it back some more but still a little too close for me, I’m going to try bending the posts to see if that helps. I was hesitant since I might screw it up but I’m not using it like it is anyway so I figure no loss.

My Grasshopper backrest is adjustable front to back by slots in the mounting bracket where its bolted to the fender bolts. Maybe 1\2" either way, about the middle works for me.
Best investment I've ever made.
Seat has to be removed to adjust

Looks like you are missing some key components. Must have been built on a Friday.
