EVERYTHING HD costs money, lol.

Got my WHIM installed, now to get it flashed, hopefully tomorrow.

You can see the WHIM in its place, in the bottom right, the grey part. The circle of cables is the $49 harness you need for 14-17 model bikes. for 18+ use the one that comes with the WHIM. My HomeLink door opener system, is the black box wrapped in tape, in the upper left. As mentioned before it controls the gate to our road, my garage, and my workshop door openers. All works off 12v and only powered when bike is on.

Now to make the 80 mile round trip drive tomorrow to get it flashed.

I like the Homelink idea! What did you do for the buttons?

That part is not as pretty ad I would like, but it works.

Its the black housing to the left of the back plate for the front brake master cyl. I made that myself because I cannot find anything even remotely attractive for 3 buttons, AND a 1" handlebar. Overseas there is a nice one but is for 22mm bars, which is 3/4" I believe. Even that switch housing is about $100 plus shipping from Europe.

Would love it if someone found one better. For wiring, I use Cat5 cable, since it has 8 individual, stranded, wires. Did not want solid wires since the handlebars turn, and they might eventually break. Each switch takes 2 wires, and plus 2 more for power. I tapped into the cigarette lighter for power.

My goal is to design and make a far better looking housing, with more flush looking switches.

Curious as to where you found that. We use Cat5e at work and it's solid.

Home depot, I think. Bought a short piece, and took a chance, lucked out. Could not give any more details since I bought it about 8 or more years ago. I first put this setup on my Honda XL600R, then my XL1200 sportster, now this bike. I redid the button mount for this bike. This one is not pretty, the other one was butt ugly.

This thread shows the process to make the circuitry work, starting about page 3, and around page 6, shows the old button box. Like I said, ugly but it worked.

Let me correct myself. The button box was about 8yrs old, but it was wired to different controls then. Its been about 2 yrs since I wired it to the sportster, with the cat5 cable.

This would be nice, but want it for right side, and not sure it will work there. Install instructions show for left side. Too awkward to reach across the bars like that.
