Opionions and lowers and speakers

Opionions and lowers and speakers
I have an 06 Street Glide. The stereo right now is a Sony deck (problems) which is going to be replaced with a Alpine. As far as speakers go I have the Hawg Wired Double Shot. I have happy with the speakers and amp.
Like most of the guys on here I can't leave good enough alone. I want to add speakers to my lowers. I am going to go one of 2 ways.
One option is to keep my stock HD lowers and add the speaker pods. I would put the new Hawg Wired 6.5 speakers in my fairing and lowers with one of their amps.
- I am just waiting to see how much the new HW 4 channel amp will cost
- I would be repainting my entire lowers. Can the back side of the lowers be painted to
give it a more finished look?
Second option. To use these lowers

They are very unique looking, which I like. But I also like that I could put 6x9's in them. Has anyone seen these in person? I was told they are not practical for everyday riding? Not sure why? Then again the guy who told me that is twice my size. If I do go this route I was thinking the new Rockford Fosgate amp and their 6x9's in the lowers and RF 6.5's in the fairing.
-How would the RF speakers hold up to rain or the occasional washing?
Any thoughts or opionions would be great. I've read most of the posts on speakers and amps and this is what narrowed it down to.
Thanks
Eric

Couldn't get the link in the original post to work, but this one will:

If you like the sinister lowers, go for it; they're fiberglass which is the same material HD used until switching to plastic in '05 or thereabouts, so can't see an "issue" with them for everyday use. Perhaps you can give them a call and get some names of customers who have them for references.
As for the 6X9 speakers, a good part of them will be blocked by the tank so I'm not sure how much more sound they'll provide compared to 6.5" CVO size speakers, or J&M's to-be-released speaker boxes with 7.25" speakers.
The RF amp will be 4 ohm impedance, and IIRC aren't the HW amps, or at least some of them 4 ohm ipedance as well? If so, why not use the HW amp for both applications (i.e. 6.5" or 6X9 speakers in the lowers)?
As for painting the inside of the inner fairings, I've never seen them done that way and didn't paint them when I did my bike repaint two years ago. I considered it and my painter wanted to do them, but with a single color bike, I thought it would be nice to have the black contrast. It actually made for more work since I was the one who masked the insides of the lowers. If you're going for a different look (i.e the Sinister lowers) go for it and paint the inside of the lowers.
Good luck with your project.

can't comment on option 2, I have the Hawg Wired 4 in the face and love it, had the double shot on the last bike, the new HW amp is 400W ,mine is 300W, I have the 5.25 speakers with tweeter grills, the new speakers are 6.5 ,so based on my system which I love I would think the new system has to be even better
