Default Need help with shocks

I replaced the original shocks on my Road King with Profile Low Touring Shocks and they were great. However, I am selling the Road King and want to keep the low touring shocks, so I removed them and put back the original shocks. The problem is they will not build up any air pressure. I used my HD air pump with no luck. I then tried a bicycle air pump and still no air pressure in the shocks. I did read in the service manual that the shocks should not be laid down, which my were while in storage. Do I need to replace these? Thanks.

Did oil leak out of the POS shocks? If not, you have an air leak in your connections. Recheck them, soapy water helps.

+1 on check the connections...... the tubing can get dented at the connector. Cut them off just past the dented part and they should make a good seal.

When I put my shocks on, I was trying to insert the airline into the shock fitting with the little connector thing pushed in, and then was trying to pull the connector out with the line inserted. I couldn't get them to pump up, and I realized I was doing it wrong. Make sure the connectors on the shocks are pulled "out" and then simply insert the airlines. Hope that helps.

On laying them down, shouldn't affect air pressure. Could have caused oil to leak out, which would be a different issue. But they would still hold pressure.

I'll second that. Just replace the shocks on mine, and the air leak drove me nuts. I cut a 1/4 inch off the end of each tubing, no more air leak.

Try it.

O.K. and thanks for all the help. I will cut 1/4" off the end of the tubes, and make sure they are inserted properly. I'll let you all know how I made out.
