Default How many miles to Dyno

I made an appointment four weeks ago to get my bike on the dyno. and figured to have around 400 miles till then. However the weather here will not give up and now i have six days left and only 100 miles on a new 103 build with cams and head work.If im lucky i will get another hundred before tuesday,as im writing this it's snowing outside. is that enough break in for forged pistons and hasting rings?

Some builders say to ride about a thousand and some say to do it with zero miles.

When I had my 95" kit installed, the builder dynoed the bike right off the bat.I put almost 30000 miles on the bike before I sold it,no problems.

Most of the ring seating will occur in less than 50 miles; the trick is IMHO to run it a bit on the hard side keeping pressure on the rings (accelerate/decelerate), drop the oil at 50-60 miles and ride it like you normally do. I had mine on the dyno at right about 100 miles, that was 9k miles ago and it runs fine but to each their own, good luck

I was hoping that you guy's would say it's ok. and i was going to wait to change the oil after the dyno i figure that any shavings would be done after the dyno.

The best running motor I have had was broke in on the dyno by an experienced dyno operator. Much better results can be had that way IMO if the operator knows what he is doing & what to monitor.
