High bars on a Street Glide? Well, you can put a radio on a skateboard, but it's hard to top the Retro Look and modern technology of the classic Road King. After 6 years on my '01 FLHRI, I wouldn't make an even trade.
Those were the two bikes I was torn between. For me I couldn't care less about the radio and I liked the classic looks and style of the RK. Also I came across a deal I couldn't refuse on a RK so that is what I bought.
I ride a street glide. It's great being a woman on one, you don't see to many! My husband has a RK, when he wrecked he bought a SG, black like mine! It's fun when we ride side by side. I've ridden his RK and prefer my bike. I love the farring and the many benefits of it, and when he installed a C.D. player for me, I was one happy girl!
Street glide has a radio and a batwing fairing - plus, you can add a tour pack and have a great touring package. The RK is a bit sportier - no batwing and a bit lighter. I am giving serious thought about trading the RK for a Street Glide in the spring. I miss a radio on longer drives.
Like others said very similar bikes either the radio and guages are a must have or not, for me a must have if you loke the king you can alwayse add a faring later if you feel you made a mistake I know guys who have just a little more $$$ in the long run.
I personally am not a fan of a bike with the fairings........I LOVE my RKClassic....I do miss the tunes but put some pipes on it and no big deal.....quick release windshield and the leather wrapped hard bags are nice........I chose the King
