Default ebay hidden antenna

I just picked up a hidden antenna off ebay. I got the one with the peel and stick tape. My question is where did you stick yours for the best reception. I'd prefer to keep it on the inner fairing to help with future disassembly if necessary.

I pit it on the inside of the outer fairing.

I had mine on the left side of the inner fairing along the outside edge. Got real good reception with it there.

I got the same $15.00 antenna and this is how I found the best place to install it on the fairing I have on my Road King. Get it installed, plugged into the radio and leave the outer fairing off. Move the antenna around and see where the best reception is. I ended up putting it along the top of the inner fairing below the windshield, out of the way of any electrical interference. Works very well. I put a few extra pieces of tape on just to make sure it doesn't come loose, 2 years and the reception is still as good as ever.

isn't the cord on this unit 3 feet? I would think that if it is, you would have enough extra so you could just unplug it after removing outer fairing.

It is like 3 foot long. I hadn't even taken out of the package until just now. Instructions have some pics but they are a photocopy and really small. Kinda useless really. I'll play around with it some tomorrow.

I put mine there as well. Best $20 I spent on the bike so far. No problem with reception.
