notrailers, I would just say expectation management, they aren't perfect out of the box, so don't pass judgement ont the new Ohlins to quickly. They do need set up properly to ensure minimum stiction and they need to be broken in 500mi plus. I can't speak on the 2-1s, but after break in and proper set up my 3-3s are fantastic.

thanks cosmic charlie. this is exactly the information i wanted to know. my stock streetglide short shocks sucked. i did install a pair of roadglide shocks which improved ride a bunch, but there's surely a better ride to be had with the ohlins. thanks for the information on the ohlins.

Another Ohlins and Howard fan here! It is difficult to describe how a set of shocks can be so superior to everything else I have ever ridden. There is far more to these things than a few extra bucks than the opposition, but if they are good enough for stock BMWs we should have them as well.

I am asking myself if I am going to be pleased as all of you out there that have them already?
I have the #2-3 (13¼") and they are excellent: Very smooth ride, great control, excellent price, and bottoming-out is a thing of the past. However, #2-1 have much less stroke, so I couldn't speculate on how they will ride. I would recommend that those pondering a purchase go with the longest stroke you can tolerate, as that translates into a better ride and less bottoming. The only downside to longer stroke is the slammed look disappears more as riding height increases and some with short inseams may have a problem stretching to touch the pavement. I have a 30" inseam and have no problems with the 13¼" riding height and I also have no problems with the appearance. YMMV.

I was considering the Progressive 940s, but I see a lot of raving about Ohlins on the forum. Maybe I should give that Howard guy a call...I know jack **** about shocks except that my stock 09 SG shocks SUCK. Tired of bottoming out nomatter how the air shocks are adjusted. Lemme go see if I can figure out the Ohlins website...

I hear you. After about the 10th time my butt shook hands with my Adam's Apple after hitting a pothole I started looking for a shock replacement.

Howard knows his shocks. Listen to him on the setup, especially after break in. We changed the initial settings at 1000 miles, and they went from very good to great.
I have the 6's
