I was once told that the police bikes came with a different set of cams from the civilian version. Just wondering if this was true. I rode a friends 01 RK police bike with just a set of Rineharts and a Power Commander. Compared to my 02 Ultra nice gain in performance. I know that the bikes were geared taller for less RPM at speed, but, this bike had a nice pull between 2k and 4k compared to my stock. The pipes wern't as load as I was afraid they would be. With the quite baffles they might be just what I want with a great boost where I want it.
My police bike is slower than any other big twin I have ever ridden. As far as I know, the Police models are no different than the civilian versions..............just a bit slower
2002 and up cop bikes are same as civilian. i seem to remember my compression ration is 9.1 as opposed to 9.0 on 2002 and up, very small difference.
gearing is same on any FLH, cop or not. hard to compare any two bikes as no two are "exactly" the same.
Thanks for the info on the EVO's having different cams. I realize all bikes are different and no two bikes will react to the same mods. I was just pleasantly surprised by the increase in performance in my friends bike with just Rineharts and Power Commander. I think I will be considering those additions to my bike. It would make me very happy. Always liked Rineharts sound and look.
I forgot about the charging system upgrade on the "P" models. I don't know if it's true or not but I was told that the police bikes were the only bikes that Harley makes that are designed to charge at idle.
I had the stator on my 04 police EG replaced recently,45 amp was stock on my bike, had the 45 amp put back in,it had to be ordered not a stocked part at my dealer. the 38 amp is a in stock part.
