I am new to the forum. Looking for some opinions on which bike to buy the 06 or 07 SG. I found an 06 with a SE stage one kit for $23000.00 Can. It is mint with 4300miles Warrenty until spring of 08. Or is the 07 96 six speed that much better. With the same stage one kit it would cost me $27500.00 with tax out the door according to the dealer. He seems to think the 88 5 speed it better, but he is also trying to sell a used bike in October in Alberta Canada. I Have the cash saved to buy either. But $4500.00 could come in handy if I am not gaining much. Thanks for your imput.

 

I would not buy a stage 1(BS) for 23k when you can buy a new one for that....now if it was a chromed out, hopped up, & corbin seated 06, i might but a stage 1 is just pipes and ac witha crappy download...basically a stock bike....if it was 18k or so, i'd say oh yea

I traded my 1200 sporty in for an 07 RKC and have never regretted it. How much do you know about the 4300 miles that are on the 06??? Make your own decision, but if it were I... I'd go with the 07.

 

Get a Stock 07 and save the Money then Upgrade later. With the 06 you are already buying a used Depreciated Bike and even with the Stage 1 it still not equal to a 07 Stock 6 speed.

 

I.M.O. get the 07 , I have one and its the best bike I ever drove . The 07 has the drivetrain upgrades { 96 in. and 6 speed } The dealer will try to sell you the used bike because he nows he will sell the 07 easier to someone else . P.s. what is the m.s.r.p. of the bike in canada ? Do not pay more than that.

 

I had the choice of an 07 or a discounted new 06, I took the discounted 06, that left a lot of cash to do what I wanted to do to the bike.

With all the problems I have listed here and other places with the 07, I am glad I made this choice, however it is a choice and the choice is yours.

Check Ebay for a 2006 SG. I saw one the other day, the winning bid was $16,700. It had 13 miles on it (used bike). I was tempted, but it was 500 miles from me and blue. I really want black.

 

I am also from Alberta Canada and was looking at the same bike as you, I bought new, with stage one kit, out the door for 26500.00 at edmonton harley. My new black pearl SG will be here in a week!!!!
