Since the last thing you did was install her radio, that is the strongest probability as the culprit. Start trouble shooting with a third radio, and see how each works off that one. It sounds as thought the antenna on her bike is not making a good connection with the radio. A radio without an antenna can often hear some distance away but cannot transmit more than a few feet.

The J&M has a Hi and Low transmit mode. Try that. What antenna are you using?? Asorry antenna will make thebest radio sound awful. A goog antenna on the other hand will make a cheap radio sound great. My J&M talks great and I use a truck stop antenna. Did you install the PL-259 connectors yourself? If so take an ohm meter and check your connections on your coax. They are a little tricky to install if you don't do them a lot. I bet it's something simple. Your squelch on your recieving unit isn't to tight is it??
