So I have been a year round rider for years and as it goes I really don't wash the bike mainly because what's the point it's just going to get dirty the next day that it rains, which around here is usually the next day. I stopped for gas the other day and the attendant, they don't have self serve in Oregon, says to me "Don't you like your bike?" I look at him and ask why would you ask that? He says it so dirty. I tell him that's cause I'm busy riding in the weather it's gonna be dirty! I do wash it during the warmer weather when it's dry but during the wetter part of the year I just don't see the point.
Not often enough but living in Seattle and riding year around, it gets dirty in the winter. I do wash it every month or so but like you said, even when you do wash it, it rains the next day.
I wash mine whenever it needs it unless the temps are too cold & the hose is freezin up. Of course it's like challenging the rain gods & it usually gets nastied up again pretty quick.
I wash it couple of times per year: leaves more time for riding it.
Also have a F-150 that I wash just as often.
The cobalt blue doesn't show light dirt very much, so that helps.
I'm certainly not one of those that spends hours per week polishing it.
Mine is filthy now, awaiting a warm day when the riding is done and I give myself time to clean it up, otherwise I wash it during the winter just enough to keep salt off it.
If I rode a lot during the rainy season I probably wouldn't wash it very often, no point in it. When the weather is nice I like to keep it clean and shiny
It seems with the Denim finish it is easy to clean up. I usually clean the bugs off with glass cleaner about every couple of weeks and give it a full "bath" about once a month during riding season. In the off season, I don't ride it enough to even bother with cleaning it. So it just stays dirty.
We also ride year round here in "sunny" Washington but living in the Pacific Northwest has it's challenges if you want to keep your bike look'in good. We rarely wash our bikes until the weather gets better, like July 5th when summer officially starts here!
my bike gets washed by the dealer every 5,000 miles when i have it serviced...does a good job. why anyone would waste time washing and waxing a bike is beyond me.
