Default Hogtunes NCA 40.4 160 watt Amp??

Trying to get some feedback on Hogtunes 160 watt 4 channel amp. I did a few searches but there's too much info that comes up about other amps, speakers, etc. so I thought I'd do better just asking.... who has this amp and are you happy with it? I have a '09 Ultra with J & M 7.25's in the fairing and Hogtunes in the rear pods and I'm thinking of adding an amp. I like the fact that it's a 4 channel amp and the install looks very clean and easy. Any feedback will be appreciated. Larry

I have this amp in my 09 Ultra, and I am not impressed with the sound when I turn the volume up. Also ran into a problem last fall that when I started the bike I would get a loud screeching noise from the speakers. Hog Tunes provided me with a list for troubleshooting . I have not followed up on that as of yet.

What speakers are you using, Hogtunes? What don't you like about the sound when the volume is up...distortion or something else? Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like bad feedback so far. I'm going to hold off, and may end up going with an ELF. Thanks.

I have had one since last summer. It did have some initial problems which has been stated. Never had a problem getting help from Hogtunes. They always returned my call.

Basically what the problem was is the amp turns on and you have 12v powering up the amp. When you crank the bike the voltage would drop and it would impact the amp. It was really frustrating but they found the problem. They were modifing the units and asked me to wait until January for a replacement. I received it and installed it. Works great and so far no problems.

Would I buy another one? Now I would. They stood behind the product and it really sounds good with my JM speakers in the fairing. Install was very easy. All wiring harnesses were professionally done and it basically was plug and play!

Now do I like the sound? Yes without question, I enjoy my JM speakers and they were installed prior to the amp purchase. Just wanted some more sound and the Hogtunes amp was just right for me. Again I would not hesitate to buy another amp from Hogtunes.

Bamarider, thanks for your reply. Now I'm back on the fence. I watched the video on Hogtunes website on installing this amp and it looked very well thought out and like it fits in the fairing very nicely like it was made for it. Did it seem to increase some bass as well as volume or does it just make it louder? A little more bass would be nice along with more volume at highway speeds. Did you adjust the gain, if so to what setting? Thanks again for your reply.

The idea is to do work on the bike when the weather makes it unrideable, and then ride it when it's nice out. Come on now, we got to send you back to the noobie ridin' school?
