Did it seem to increase some bass as well as volume or does it just make it louder? A little more bass would be nice along with more volume at highway speeds. Did you adjust the gain, if so to what setting? Thanks again for your reply.
I left the gain set as Hogtunes requested. On the speakers though I have the JM HCUS-09GTM-C. The newer 7 inch speakers were not available yet. When I put the JM speakers in prior to the amp it was a big upgrade from stock. My bass was much more noticeable. When I installed the amp, I did not really notice it increasing the bass as much as it increased the sound. Using a CD my bass response can be distorted if the bass level is increased on the radio. I have found a level of bass that I am comfortable with and I can turn it all the way on most songs. I do not have any problem hearing it doing 80mph on the highway and I like the way it sounds. Is there something better, probably but I am very happy with my investment.

Another issue for me is the helmet I am wearing. With my half helmet it is very loud. With my full helmet it cuts the sound down alot especially when the shield is down. On my 3/4 helmet it also reduces it but I am still happy.

Keep in mine for me I hear the back speakers a little with the half helmet. I cannot tell they are there if I am wearing a 3/4 or full.

Good luck choosing.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Hogtunes NCA 60 watt 40.4 amp. As soon as it arrives I'll be installing it and will report back with the results. (Found it new on eBay for $259.95 shipped). My '09 Ultra has J & M 7.25's in the fairing and the newer Hogtunes in the rear pod. I spoke with Pez at Hogtunes and was told that " the 40.4 will give a lot more volume and will help out with bass. The nice thing is you do not have to turn everything up all the way to hear at highway speed, so the sound stays "relaxed" and is a lot easier to listen to for long periods". Hopefully I'll be happy with how it performs..... a little more bass is always nice but I really just want more volume at highway speeds so I don't have to turn it up all the way.

...Basically what the problem was is the amp turns on and you have 12v powering up the amp. When you crank the bike the voltage would drop and it would impact the amp. It was really frustrating but they found the problem. They were modifing the units and asked me to wait until January for a replacement. I received it and installed it. Works great and so far no problems...

To the OP: FWIW-I have the Big Ultra kit and the amp you ask about is part of the kit. It flipping rocks! Pimping along at 2200 turns or so in 4th gear, the Big Ultra kit drowns out the engine noise and the Vance and Hines exhaust. Leave the volume cranked for a while and you will get a headache. No problem hearing it rolling along on the super slab either.

I am having the same problem where the random and occasional, but not always, loud screeching/feedback/whatever sound you may call it occurs when the bike is started. My plan to call Pez again on Monday for a list of stuff to check and ask if my amp is in need of the modifications you speak of.

I had the same issue with the amplifier that those listed above had. When I would start the bike I would get a loud screech and the volume would go full volume. I called several times and was informed that it was my battery being low on voltage and causing the issue with the amplifier upon startup. I proceeded to troubleshoot with HogTunes and then was told to send the amplifier back to change a component, which was a low voltage sensor, which would resolve my problem.
When I received my amplifier the problem still persisted, even after the repair and I also replaced my battery. I then contacted HogTunes and explained the situation and asked for a replacement amplifier and it was replaced under warranty.
Hogtunes stood behind this amplifier and answered all of my questions. I believe the initial amps had a issue with a low voltage sensor and I also believe that my battery, being three years old, was causing some issues with this amp.
I have had zero issues with the new amp and highly recommend this setup to anyone.
