I got mine from Phat Performance about a year and half ago. They had the best price then. After 10K miles mine still look new. I think the secret is keeping them clean. I mounted mine with the slash down to follow the lines of the saddlebags. Because of this, condensation forms at startup (especially in cold weather) and that results in soot buildup if you don't wipe them off. I just wipe mine off with a paper towel whenever I fill up. Takes 10 seconds and I'm convinced that is why I haven't had any peeling chrome issues. (But I'm knocking on wood as I type this).

 

+1 on the flaking tips... installed mine last August, chrome flaking on both tips really bad now. still waiting to hear whether bub will warranty them or not.

pipe sound is 100% subjective... regular baffles were too loud for me, but I installed their 'quiet' baffles and they sound perfect to my ears now.

if no warranty, I'll paint them with BBQ black I guess...

 

I guess I am glad I have a good set. That suck that some are having issues. Over 10k miles and no flaking at all. I wipe them out like highwayking does but other than that no special care. I am really happy with them. Almost wish they were louder but the wife doesn't

Search eBay too...got my Bub-7 TD's for ~$350 (new) - clearanced fm TX Harley dealer. Had mine on for 1-yr & endcaps seem fine, but could be too early to tell & they are black vs. chrome...

 

Had the same problem with the chrome peeling off the tips. When I purchased the entire system, they arrived with the chrome flaking off the one of the head pipes. The told me that was not a problem, and I had insisted they replace them. Very poor quality and service, I would not recommend them.

 

I've had my Bub 7's on my Ultra for about two years and no chrome problems at all. Got them from eBay.

 

I've had my BUB 7 system on for 2 years now and no problems with chrome on end caps or anything else. Got system from e-bay.
