Default TBW for Handlebar Swap ? (from a newbie to TBW)

Yes I have the factory manual and parts manual to my new 11 SG.
Yes I've read how to make the tool to remove the ignition
Yes I've read many searched threads on Handlebar swaps.

Going to go with Bars and I'm not wiring them internally, most likly the Khrome Werks Sweeper + 2 to get some more hieght and pullback.

I get all the steps for the clutch cable, tweaking the brake cable, removal of the fairing cap, outer fairing, radio, and redoing the existing cables in the fairing to get some more play for the new bars.

For the TBW wire in the bar with the green connector... Here are my questions.

Once I disconnect the TBW in the fairing and remove the bars, what do I dissasemble to remove that wire from the bars and install it into the new bars ?

One thread mentioned dissasembing the molex connector on the end, many threads indicate that the green connector is to come apart ( carefully ), wich one should I do ?

Please shed some light on this part of the Bar swap. I'm good to go with the rest of it.

Thanks !

I would not wire externally if you are spending the money on new bars. It just looks MUCH better wired internally. Its a little effort but not that bad. The green TBW plug should not be a problem with those bars. It is just difficult to pull on some bars. It often comes apart inside the bar when pulling. So for that most recommend the SE TBW that repositions the plug to the bottom and makes pulling wires easier.

ya internal wiring only adds maybe 30 mins to project assuming you can pull them thru semi easy and looks so much better. I ended up spending the 70 bucks on the SE TBW to elimate the connector.

When I did my sweepers, I took apart the connector in the fairing.

Dawg,

when you say you took apart the connector in the fairing , do you mean that you had to dissasemble the wires from the end of the plug to remove it from the old bars, swap it to the new bars and then put the plug back to the wires?

Thanks.

Yes, I popped the pins out of the connector and then put them all back in. I made a diagram prior to taking it apart.

Yep I did what Dawg did, pulled the pins from the connector apart. Not a big deal to do and with the manuals and for backup make a diagram with pin colors. I would put the wires internal also.

Keep us informed how you like the +2's. I had them but went to the 577's from Wild 1 because the +2 were not that much of a difference and I did not like the hand position on the +2's.

If you are unsure of how to disconnect the connectors have a look at this link from Wild 1's. This is what Dawg was talking about. I think there are 2 connectors on the right and one on the left.

I just pulled the tbw sensor out enough to disconnect it and tied a string to the end left in the bar and pulled it out. I then fed the string thru the new bars and pulled it back thru. I did not have to do anything else.
