It looks as if the previous owner has lavished some care and cash on it. A clue is the lining pattern on each fender, which to someone who knows these things will probably identify the paint shop. Looks good enough to go take a closer look!

Personally, I like the paint scheme better. Looks really nice. Just check out all the pinstriping and make sure they are good strong straight lines that match up. Some of the close-ups on the freehand (like the rear fender) could be better. I am mostly thinking about the gold striping.

But overall... painting your bike has nothing to do with problems so don't let it bother you if you like the bike and it's mechanically sound. I know guys that drove it right off the lot to the shop to break the tins down and paint them so no ones is exactly like thiers. I would think that if it was repainted due to problems they would have went more factory than custom.

By the way... the VIN is on the Ebay page if you want to look up what it looked like from the factory.

Looks like the owner might have tried to copy a paint scheme that Harley used on the 1997 Heritage Springer softail that was in a white with a red stripe or white with a blue stripe design on the gas tank. Harley used the same scheme on the fenders, but this individual seems to have gone with a standard format scheme that Harley uses on the road king and electra glide models.

I think it's a good looking paint job. I hope it works out for you.

The whole bikes been re-painted. The ad says the bike was black. Probably repainted due to mileage and stone chips etc. Still not a bad looking bike, if it runs OK and the price is right.

Its at a local shop and you are debating whether to go kick the tires??? Go for it...check it out, fire it up, and take it for a spin. What have you got to lose by test driving it and giving it a good look over?

Is that why you painted your fairing?

People repaint motorcycles to their own taste all the time, even new.

You guys crack me up with your high mileage and paint theories. I traded my 08 in a while back with 58k on the clock and the bike looked and rode the same as the day I bought it new.

32k on an 09, what do you know, someone actually bought a bike and rode it.

Heres my theory on the paint, guy went to a rally and spotted this set of tins at a vendor, dropped the coin and went from black to xxxx overnite.
