Sounds way too high to me. For 3 grand you can get 100+ hp and tq and ride it 90 95 all day long. Things must be a lot cheaper in TN.

Wow way to high to me. But I live in Iowa. My opinion if it counts, its not worth it to thin the cylinders out to a 98". A 95" motor will produce more power than you'll ever need, you can get it 100hp and 100tq and still be very street able. Find a good indy that knows how to work your stock heads over and believe me you will be happy. And you should be able to get it all done for around $3500 tops, check around.

I'm doing a 95" 204 cams SE hydro cam plate port and polished heads with the valves cut to 1.90 and heads milled for around 2500 and it will most likely dyno around 100HP and 100TQ

i saw a 2009 twin cam motor, in like new shape at a swap meet a few weeks ago for 1800 bucks. don't throw money into your 88" motor when you can get a brand new engine for less than the quote you got for building your motor. ultima from jireh cycles.com has great prices on their motors. shop around, you can get a lot more bang for the buck and still get a brand new engine. selling your engine will give you back some money. this is the direction that makes the most sense.

Looks like a good price for an HQ 98" build that also includes the cams, VPC, programmed ingition, and labor for installation. If Kevin from Pro-Twin is doing the installation, you'll have a powerful, efficient and enjoyable ride for many miles to come.

One note concerning the parts list. The cams are listed as chain drive, but you're also including the gear drive kit. That's not right. I'd be inclined to go with the chain drive cams and the SE cam plate and high volume oil pump with the hydraulic tensioners; similar in price to the gear drive kit, but you get a new cam plate, better oil pump, and no issues with crank runout.

Good luck with your project.

JERZMATIC: Seems really high to me.......for your riding style....

Seriously, a "deal" is a relative term. I am in a fairly similar position with my 05 RK, and before I spend that kind of jack, I will put that 5K toward a new/newer bike with a 96" or a 103". I think there are much cheaper way of extracting more from your engine. I put cams in mine, and that helped a great deal.....until I got used to them! I do ride with guys on 103" engines, and that's my problem; they still have more pull than I do, and the 6th gear they have makes cruising at high speeds moch more comfortable/easy for them then it is for me. If you haven't considered cams, it's not a bad bang for the buck. They really did make a big difference in my bike. I am considering a big bore now, but if I can't get it done for around $1200, I am just going to save for a much newer if not new bike. It's going to be close.
Again, "deal" is relative. If you're in love with your bike, and wont miss the $5K, you will certianly get a BIG boost out of your current engine.

Cool

Sounds steep...
Just finished a big bore / gear drive myself. While I'z that deep... added stator, upgraded primary tensioner, clutch cable & ez pull, fuel filter, PCIII, and Rhinehart slip ons. No labor, as I spin my own wrenches. Around 3k.

Asked Harlypingman 'bout a good tuner in Atl area...reffered me to a dude.

If it's the same guy (Kevin) @ Pro-Twin...he chore knows his chit!!!

My machine work was accomplished in Ft. Worth...been doing air cooled for 37 years. They've done testing on the 98" and don't recommend quite that big...depending on the individual jugs, may have heat spots. His kit takes 'em from 88"s to 96"s.

All in all...it's your $$$... make yourself happy!

Beav
