J&M 7.25" and Amp - Not Satisfied....
Hi all..
I just took my SG with new installed J&M 7.25" and their Amp to Daytona on 95 for a 4 hour trip. I have to report a few findings:
The setup sounds great in my garage.. But on the highway, going 80, it sounds like crap. Even going 70 it doesn't sound too good. I was under the impression, with the amp it would be very clear, and crisp.. Not the case.
Maybe my expectations are high, with just two speakers and an amp on an open motorcycle with wind noise, etc.. But it didn't seem like a HUGE improvement over stock, that justifies the money spent. Sure I know there is the new Rokker, but is it really going to be that much better?
Maybe a lot of the people giving great reviews are going 40mph, and cruising, but i do ride the highway often..
Does anyone have any thoughts? I turned of the AVS or whatever, and didn't notice anything better.. Also, with my ipod connected to the AUX, it sounds horrible, and the volume is MUCH lower than with CD.
Any thoughts? I hear J&M and Dr V-twin saying it's the best they have ever heard on a harley. Is that because they are more realistic about the output of a motorcycle setup?? I don't know.
I find myself being much happier with my pair of Itymotic, Sound Isolating headphones in.. But that isn't what I'd prefer as I'd love to utilize the fairing and the stereo..
Maybe someone has a different setup that works well for them? Maybe something from a car audio manufacturer, or a more audiophile setup that I don't know about?

No.. I don't expect High Fidelity Sound.. But I expected it to be somewhat clear and audible, with an amp setup and 7.25 speakers.. I believe it's possible.

WTF do I expect traveling @ 70 MPH? Only what was promised to me by the person/company who sold me the junk then must have added me to his/their ignore list and would not return my emails.
