Clarity.....Sounds like a dream, is it possible?
A lot of people jumped on the band wagon when those things first came out, I was one of them. In fact I jumped on a few band wagons, it was costly but I am learning not to do that. I cannot recommend J&M. I say look elsewhere. Let us know what you find.

I've stated before in stereo threads you need to ask a ton of questions, some guys run stock motors and tall shields, some run stroked motors and short shields, some wear helmets and some don't and so on, so what works for you may be over kill for someone else or not near enough, ask questions and talk to guys who have similar bike set ups as you, this is your best chance of making a purchase you will be happy with
Did ya call anyone for tech support? I have the J&M 7.25 with no amp and it sounds great at 70-75mph. Dude you're runnin an amp and you can't tell much of a difference from stock? Something can't be set up right. I'd call for tech support, then if you hear no difference...flame on!

I bought just the 7.25 J&M speakers. Are they better than stock? Yes. Is it crystal clear at highway speeds and can hear the bass? Nope. I don't think that would ever happen unless you are willing to give up all the storage in the saddlebags, tour pak and many $$$$.$$ later. Is it enough to keep me happy running my IPhone with enough toons to run 10 or 12 hours without repeating a song? Yep.

I have an all Hogtunes setup with the HT speakers in the fairing, Tweeter Pod and HTunes speakers in the lowers pushed by a separate amp, also Hogtunes. I had no problem hearing the music from my iPod all the way out to Sturgis and back. Sure, it wasn't like sitting in an acoustically perfect room, but it was plenty loud and clear for me to sing along with it like an idiot. I'm upgrading the lower speakers with their new 7" woofers when it gets warm and stops snowing here in Wisconsin. I'm also adding their 160w 4-way amp and expect this setup to be even better.

I have the 7.25 J&M speakers and a Hawgwired amp, I can hear my system real well at 80+ mph, I must admit recently I have heard some set ups that sound just as good and better, but only one was cheaper, and not by much. I don't know about the J&M amp, but you may want to check all your wiring and connections, my stock system could not even hold a candle to how it sounds now. Hope everything works out or you find a solution.

I've been watching these speaker threads ever since I installed the 7 1/4 inch J&Ms.
I ride a SG with stock exhaust and a 8 inch windshield. I also wear earplugs and wear a FF helmet.
The setup is much better than the stock speakers.
Does the sound degrade at 70, or 80 mph of course. Can I still make out the words to the songs, yes.
Try driving down the road in your car or truck at 70 or 80 with all your windows down, and then tell me if it sounds as good as it does with the windows up, sitting in your garage.
I'm not defending the J&Ms, it just sounds like some peoples expectations are set a little high.
My last bike, I had a Kenwood stereo, Alpine 6 1/2 inch speakers, and 1 1/2 inch Pioneer tweeters. I think the sound I'm getting out of the J&Ms is real close to the quality I was getting on my previous bike. JMO
