Default UPDATE on Non Working GPS

About a month ago I had the dealer install the Road Tech Zumo 660 Garmin . Since it warmed up a bit I have been out a few time. The GPS stopped talking {I had the HD NIM installed to play threw speakers}. It will work sometimes be it not very often then I get on my radio display "Phone Vol" and then it doesn't talk. Dealer checked wiring 3 times and nada. Called Garmin 4 times and one tech said they know there's a problem and the others say they don't have a problem. The Warranty guy at the dealer called HD and they say they are having problems. Seems the signal to have the radio mute so you her the GPS has a problem. Garmin is sending another unit but I have a feeling that will be the same.

Have you tried to just plug it in the AUX bypassing the NIM, to isolate the problem?

It's a month old and doesn't work? I'd tell the dealer I want a new unit and they can deal with whomever they want with the broken one.

Have you checked the volume level when the display shows "Phone Volume" ? That is adjusted from your handle bar controls...maybe it has been turned down or is too low??

My 665/NIM has the opposite problem...it talks too much. Apparently there is a bug in the system where by some portions of the audio feed from the XM will trigger the NIM & bleed over the other functions (AM/FM/CD, and even itself on AUX). Very annoying.

Seems like there are a lot of bugs/issues with both the 660 & 665 that have not been resolved.

Please keep us updated on yours & if HD can make it work right.

I have the same issues except it happens when listening to music on the Garmin using a micro SD chip. When T take it out all is well, except I have no music on the Garmin. I like listening thru Garmin as it plays Genres, Albums, Artist etc..

Default Road Tech Zumo 660

I had the 660 mounted and also installed the wiring interface and so far I have no problem with the voice commands. I had to exchange the first one after a few days use as the 'Track Back' mode was useless. HD dealer just swapped it out.
Just FYI Garmin said that they would send me a replacement unit when I was having trouble with the first one and it turned out the what they were sending me was going to be a refurbished unit. Since is was so new the dealer had no problem making exchange.
I am sure that you have found that Tech. Support at Garmin is great.
