Four Speed Bike
Gents
I have an 07 FLHT which I ride mostly along country roads and along the seashore at top speed of around 90 km . My question is at this speed I only use 1 to 4 gear and engine turns about 2500 rpm and I shift around 3000 rpm is this good or should I take it on the highway lets say once a week and ride it a bit harder . I know these motors have to turn . Got to love that 4 speed bike though, but if I put it in 5 th I'm lugging it.

RE: Four Speed Bike
Thats the beauty of these bikes. 2500 to 3000 RPMs are fine as long it doesn't feel like you're lugging. The engines are designed for low RPM and will happily perform in that range all day long. As to the question should you put in on the highway.. well like anything else it's good to go blow the carbon out every once in awhile but don't feel you have too. It's not a crotch rocket.
