Thanks for all of the opinions! If I am at slower speeds it seems to be fine but when I hit highway speeds with a head wind you can't hear anything. I am considering installing a 6.5" Klock Works windshield, maybe this will help? I don't have any shops around here (in Dallas that I know of) that have a display to where I can check the different manufactures out. That sucks.
I couldn't believe the difference in the sound of the radio. I, like you, did not want to look through the windshield. I sat on some different bikes at the dealer with different shields and bought the one I felt like would work the best. I still get wind, but some that is from under the fairing.

ok cant resist putting my opinion or......what works for me. You spend most of your time radio listening while in motion not sitting still, your ears hear mid range better than lows and highs, short of adding a sub you will never get bass from the small speakers you can put on a motorcycle ( you need an enclosure to make bass reflect) so what I did. Biketronics install kit, Speakers with good mid response i just happened to use hogtunes. If you get an aftermarket radio make sure you get 4ohm speakers not 2ohm, the 2 ohms will be twice as loud but will overwork the radio amp. Good quality radio wit EQ functions and adjust while riding( be careful) not sitting still . Also and good windshield ie klock werks helps too. Just whats working for me.

Install the tank console wth a helmet speaker jack from an Ultra. You may need to find the parts by looking at a parts breakdown at a dealer.
