Is 6th Gear an Overdrive or Afterburner?

RE: Is 6th Gear an Overdrive or Afterburner?
I am sure that a lot of folks here will be doing the 110 big bore kits. When they do I think we are going to be hearing a different opinion of the 6 speed. With the 110 you can cruise in 6th at 60 mph loaded to the max. You can then roll on the throttle and have instant reponse w/o any clatter. The natchez trace made a believer out of me. A couple of weeks ago the wife and I and another couple rode from Natchez to Tupelo on the trace. Us on my 07 my buddy and his wife on my 06. We had an easier time staying in 6th on my SE Ultra than my buddy and his wife had staying in 5th on my 06 Ultra. (we out weigh them an easy 150lbs) The more I ride my 07 I realize what a dog my 06 is. I was going to keep it for one of my businesses, but think I am going to sell it and buy another 07. If any of the 6th gear haters want to trade ...just send me a PM

Just for those who stick it in 6th at 2000 rpms then wonder why it makes noises, on a long deserted part of I-75, I let my 07 roadglide run, at 107 she was still pulling hard and not even close to redline and it was in 5th!!! 6th gear is just to save gas and its not needed and should not even be used under 70 mph which is at its lowest acceptable and not lugging rpm of 2500.

had HD installed an OVERDRIVE 6spd, it would be well worth it. however, an additional gear with some primary ratio tweaks seems like alot of engineering/tooling for not much benefit.
my 06 runs awesome in 5th gear. no need to downshift to pass on the hwy.

Kinda seems like it depends which side of the Mississippi River you live on... those of us that can "legally" cruise at 75mph are going to benefit a lot more from the 6th gear (fuel mileage and engine load) than those doomed to the 65mph and under hiways. That being said, there is plenty of pull left in the 110 CVO rolling on the throttle at 65 to pass a big rig (or minivan) without downshifting - even if the motor isn't in the optimum power/torque range at first. Anybody running a 103 have input?

What planet do you reside on? Here on the east coast, speed limit 70 on most interstates, not that anyone drives that slow, state patrolls wont even look twice unless youre 10 over that, I know out west some roads are fast as you care to go, so the 6th will work good wherever I go.

Sorry only someone with a death wish would try and rap out 6th, as said Ive been 107 in 5th and not near redline and still pulling hard, Im no speed demon and would never have ran that fast but it sneeked up on me it was so smooth, I generaly shift at 3k with this longer stroked motor in all gears last shift drops her to 2500 rpm in 6th and she's criusing at 70.
