Default Mustang vs Harley riders backrest

Out of the 2 seems that people prefer the Mustang as its thinner and has more adjustment. The HD (standard backrest) users can't seem to get it adjusted right (to far forward), HD was suposedly redesign in 09, any better? Not interested in the HD adjustable don't like the switch on the side. Which do you use and why.

I've had both and imho the mustang is much much better, easy as can be to adjust going down the road to that perfect position!
If you do go with the Harley backrest when you install it MAKE sure the cable has something under it between the cable and the fender or when decide to get the Mustang backrest you'll have a bad series of deep scuffs in your fender paint that looks bad and won't buff out if you ever decide to run a solo setup don't ask how I know!!!!!!!!! lucky for me Mustang sells a black leather fender bib that covered 98% of them (wonder where they got the idea for that)

Sorry didn't see where you didn't want the cable adjustable one, the mustang still looks much better and it pivots with you so it's a lot more comfortable

Had the HD rider backrest. sold it and bought a Mustang. Mustang two to one better than the HD. Mine is built in to my Solo Seat. My wife has the fender mounted Mustang Rider backrest. she loves her's. They will lay flat for you to get on and off. You can quickly remove it when you stay over night in a motel. Here's pic of mine.

I have both. When I purchased the bike I ordered a HD back rest. It is definitely fairly thick and difficult to adjust. It was also a PITA putting it on and taking it off. (I am not talking about installing the mounting kit, just if you want to ride without it and then put in back on.)

I bought a Mustang seat about three months later. The back rest is very easy to put on and take off. It's simple to raise and lower the height and a thumb screw adjusts it forward and back. It also can be pushed flat to aid the passenger getting on or off. Also, my wife says there seems to be a little bit more room.

All in all, in my opinion, there is no comparison. The Mustang seat and back rest is better and more comfortable than HDs.

If you click on my profile and go to the photo ablum, you can see pictures of my bike with the Mustang seat and back rest.

On my second seat with the Mustang backrest. On and off in seconds. No first-hand experience with the HD backrest, but from what I've heard, I'd stick with the Mustang.

Great thread. I've started looking at backrests and after reading all the +1 comments on the Mustang, I'll probably got that route. I heard the HD set up requires you to buy a separate install kit. Does the Mustang also require a separate kit? And what distributor has the best prices on the Mustangs?

Where can you find the actual backrest not just the pad?I looked at mustangseats.com but all I saw was the pads.
