Default New WideWhiteWalls - How do you get that blue stuff off?

Just installed a new pair of WWW Dunlop D402 on my '03 Anniv.Black FLHR and love the way it looks. I thought I would be so concerned with keeping the whitewalls white, but never thought I'd be so frustrated with getting that blue stuff off first. Can anybody suggest a method of getting that blue crap off?

The HD dealership did an 80% job of removing the blue stuff, but the 20% on there looks like sh*t. I haven't attempted to remove it yet, but will be doing it this weekend and hoping I can absorb some of your knowlege. I've never had white wall or white letter any car or bike tire, so I know nothing about it, except for common sense inclinations to just get down there with a toothbrush and soap and putting some time into it. thanks in advance.

plain water and a sponge will work to get it off. OR you can also use a little simple gren to help out.

S.O.S. steel wool brillo pad, anything similar. And some water or Windex.

Just put the tires on 2 days & 100 miles ago. Hopefully it's not baked on there so I can avoid the brillo pads. those things bring back bad memories from the mess duty in the chow hall. Gracias for the reply Kimber fan.

Try Westley's WW tire cleaner. I works great.

Dremmel tool or die grinder... Just kidding.

I was going to say Simple Green but someone beat me to it.

Good luck and let us know how it works. I'm a few months out before I need some new rubber and would like to know some tricks.

Ok, I know this sounds weird, but it really works. If you take a rag with a little terpentine (paint thinner) and gently rub the white walls (and only the white walls) they will come clean. This also works well if they get stained or really dirty on a long trip. I use Westley's on a regular basis to keep them white as well.

If any of that other stuff dont work go to your tire dealership & get some buffing solution & it will clean them like new !!!! I would not use anything with Petroleum base it will destroy your tires.
