I am thinking in the side cover where the fuses are and battery off of the Aux port. That way I can use the switched signal from the Aux switch to trigger it. Not sure yet but that is the way I am steering.
Sweet, keep us posted!

It's the momentary switch on the far left, and the opener itself has endured two bikes over a period of 13 years, probably 150k miles, and still works. I've changed the 9V battery maybe three times in that period. Total cost was $3 assuming you have a spare opener.

Here you go guys. Got a 10$ Chevy Home Link remote off of Ebay. The yellow/purple is ground and the yellow is +12 volts DC. Green on mine is the one to make the small LED's light up. Those were so at night you could see the switches. I dropped a small chunk of wire across the 12v supply and the green one just so I could see that I have it powered up. The next issue was finding a way to make all the switches work. I removed the old tiny switches and plugged it into a 12v supply on the bench. Stuck a meter on the small dots to see where I needed to solder the wires to. 2 wires per switch. Next one more test to be sure when you short the 2 small wires the red light turns on. After that I cut the mounting tabs off of the case and its ready for some goo. I didn't have any clear silicone around so I will do that tomorrow. I plan on just getting the wires where I need them and I will shoot it full. One to stabilize the wires and two to seal everything up from dust and vibration. Next I will program the unit and attach it under the fairing to a 12V supply(probably off of my keyed power to the radio) and then hook up 2 leads off the switch to a spare odo button I have laying around.

In the end, I will have 3 sets of 2 wires off the unit. 2 will be for activation of the door and the other 4 will be for the programming of the unit. Every time I move now or get a new door I can reprogram and good to go. All in all a cost of about 13.00$ for the unit off of Ebay. A local junk yard might even be cheaper. Not sure.

Here is a pic to see how it is set up.

One day I was throwing away some warranty parts at an auto dealership. Found a sunvisor that was warrantied for a vanity bulb and ripped out the Homelink. Had no idea why I might need one, but I pulled it out today and am gonna figure out a sexy way to make it a part of my bike. I'll be able to control up to 3 garage doors for free. Cross your fingers for me. I hope I helped someone with an idea. Maybe a junkyard? Maybe you or a friend work at a dealership?
I installed mine today. It took about an hour, and that is in part because I ran out of solder. Very easy install.

18BKLER and Mikebaby---> Great to hear! I found mine in the basement and am staring at it on my desk. Have looked at the bike and am trying to figure out where to put it and not have it stick out. Where did you put yours? Sounds like at least one of you removed stock buttons?

I received the Harley kit a few years ago for Christmas. I like it and the kit didn't cost me anything. If I had to do it over agian and "spend" my own money, I would go the spare opener route that many others have used here.

Here is mine...

I think the odometer reset switch cost $12.00 and I had a spare remote.

Default garage door opener

For you RGU owners, here is a simple install. I ordered an extra garage door opener remote $19.99 (from 365garagedoorparts on Ebay). Added velcro type fastners (free from EZpass) and stuck it just under the radio. It cleared the bars by about a half inch. Entire "project" was less than 10 minutes. It blends in well with the black inner fairing. I got the 2 button remote and can open either door with the push of a button.

I do not solder. I did not drill my fairing. No swearing needed. If I can do it....
