Question Clutch cable routing on Road King

Could you check your clutch cable routing on you Road King- does it route on the clutch side through a small metal clamp at the windshield bushing nut? Has anyone run the cable through the top of the nacelle like the throttle cables are routed? Thats how the Street Glides are routed. My (indi) mechanic says it would look better if it were routed through the nacelle but I'm not too comfortable wiht that... What do you guys think? -02 FLHRi

When I changed out my bars, I had originally run the cable through the metal clamp but I just didn't like how it looked with the cable hanging out there. So, I routed through the nacelle and now the clutch cable and brake line have the same profile as they come off the handlebars and into the nacelle.

You want the clutch cable to "flow" as straight as possible, with sweeping corner so that is not in a bind anywhere. It is not a itty bitty little throttle cable.

I changed my bars to Heritage Bars, but I routed the clutch cable back like it was from the factory, through the clamp at the windshield. I want it straight as possible so It will be easier to pull. I know the newer cables are lined and don't need oiling, but I oil mine at every service with Inox cable lube. I have arthritis in my hands.

I run mine through the nacelle.
It's been like that 4 years, 25,000 miles with no problems.

Mine is on the clamp outside of the triple trees. Not the best look but sometimes looks and function dont go together.
