Default Upgrade to Stock HK Audio??

I bought my 2010 UG last summer. Since then I keep reading posts of people complaining about the stock HK audio system. This is the first bike I've owned with a fairing/sound system so I can't compare mine to others. People I know that have older bikes - ie 2007 SG - complain they can't hear their tunes when on the hwy. I don't have that problem, at least at normal traffic speeds. I'm wondering if the 2010s have a better sound system than older bikes. Or is it just that the UGs have rear speakers than the SGs don't? I'm satisfied with my stock system but is it just that I haven't heard an upgraded system to know the difference? Would I gain anything at all by upgrading to the Boom Audio or some other system? It's an expensive upgrade so unless the improvement is substantial I can't see forking out the bucks for it.

I have the stock radio on my 06 and the only thing I upgraded were the speakers, went to the HD Boom for better quality sound, as far as being able to hear the radio at highway speeds, I haven't had a problem, but I'm not running excessively loud pipes, I think that would make a difference.

My new 2011 stock system does not compare to the '06 Road Glide i had with an ARC mini amp.

I had no complaints about my stock system but like a dumbazz (lol) I listened to all of my buddies here and bought hogtunes speakers with tweeter pod to upgrade the "stock junk". Them and lots of other goodies are waiting on me when I get home from Iraq in 34 Days, WOOHOOOO!!! Thanks guys for helping me spend the extra combat pay I am getting, lmao....

If you're happy with what you have, why change?

If you are referring to the $750 Boom kit that includes the amp and new speakers, IMO it is overpriced for what you get as is the case with virtually all of HD's audio accessories.

I did upgrade my speakers and while having the outer fairing off got some sheet cotton padding and covered the speakers so all the sound comes forward. It makes so much of a difference. Cheap tooo.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Was the system that comes stock in the 2010s changed from that that came in the bikes for earlier years? Seems I heard that somewhere. If so, does anyone know what was upgraded?
