I picked one up from amazon the other day. It's supposed to be here today, and we'll see how much difference it makes. My only concern is the airflow over the engine. I'm sure it can be tweaked a bit to adjust for that though.

Combined with the fork deflectors, they do reduce a lot of buffeting. Alone, not so. And there must be a reason HD doesn't put them on from the factory any more.

Could you show where Harley makes this recommendation? It is not on the instructions for either and is not on the Harley website.

Most likely they don't put them on is because they can sell them as an accessory.

I've got one on the RK and like it. I think it makes a worthwhile difference in the air coming up and around the front of the tank. It's a very simple and inexpensive item and helps with turbulence a bit.

The major improvement on my RK was the installation of the front fork deflectors. I rode the bike 1500 miles without them, and the last 500 miles with them, and at 5' 10", they made a world of difference for me. My eyeglasses used to flutter, now they sit plumb still on my face. Seriously, I will never ride without the deflectors, at $69 it is money well spent.

I've had the baffle you are talking about in place since new, so I have no idea how much it is helping. It isn't coming off either. The combo works great. For me anyway.

May be partially true. But They don't even put them on the CVOs, which has just about every accessory available on them.
