Default Doherty Power Pacc Install

Looking for advice from others who have installed the Power Pacc.

I have the 1248 for the TBW bikes and it says to remove the throttle body support bracket which I did.

Problem is that the backing plate is about 1/8" from the breather bolts. In other words, the same distance that the support bracket would have taken up.

Is the Doherty backing plate supposed to be that far from the breather bolts?

i couldn't tell you, but perhaps it's time to read the instructions again so you can be sure to get it right. there may be something you're missing or that you may have left out.

just call doherty and ask....oh wait I forgot they don't answer thier freaking phone. I put one on my carbed 04 and it did fit well. Something is not right as there should be no gap.

Yeah tried to call first and got tired of waiting. Figured someone here would know quicker.

Appreciate the response and confirmation that the plate should pretty much touch the breather bolts. Think I'll just put the throttle body bracket back on since that is the exact distance it is from the bolts.

Maybe they just assumed the bracket needed to come off because it does in some other filter/intake kits.

I will say Doherty makes a nice piece of billet but they have the worst customer service, No answered emails and never answer the phone.

I would disagree. I had one on my '08. When I ran into troubles I called at 4:30 on a Friday, and left a message, figuring I would hear from them next week. Went out for supper and got a call at 6pm. I explained my problem, and he (Tim Doherty himself)asked me to measure something. I got the first kit they sold for the TBW scooters. I explained that I wasn't home, but would be there within an hour. He gave me his cell number, and I called back with the info. Got a call back on Saturday morning and he told me the new part was in FEDEX for Monday delivery. It came as promised. I got it installed Monday night. Tuesday afternoon I got a call from him to make sure everything worked out as promised.

So for me that is great customer service.

I have had to call them at least 20 times and never got an answering machine to pick up. it would ring for ever and then disconnect. I would try different days and different times and never any luck.

Thanks but I wasn't complaining about the service. Since you have the same version why not let me know if you removed the throttle support and if there was a gap between the plate and breather bolts?

Watched the video and read the instructions. Not much to installing an AC.
Just wasn't sure if this gap is normal for this kit or not.
