Default SE255 cam install = No More Warranty?

OK.....in reading this recent thread (below) on the SE254 vs SE255 cams, I'm now considering the SE555 cams for my 2011 RGC 103. The main question I have is.....If I buy the SE255 cams and have my HD dealer install them, will I still have my HD warranty?

I'm sort of gettin the impression that the answer is Yes and No. By that I mean that it sorta sounds like the answer is NO, unless your dealer "Agrees" to still honor your factory HD warranty after the install, preferably in writing. Can anybody please clarify this for me.....

It is all what the local dealer wants to support. If you ask the MoCo they will tell you it is out of warranty. If the dealer can make money on your cam install they are more likely to keep your warranty "valid". Its irrelevant unless you have the extended warranty since most things will start to go wrong after the 2 year mark anyway.

Straight answer is NO, the local dealer may get stuff covered, but if they have a warranty rep come in the dealers hands will be tied, and nothing they can do about it.

Well then if I'm going to void my warranty even if I run SE cams, then I guess I'd rather run Wood cams. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Fuel Moto full exhaust system, so I guess I'll see how I like that performance upgrade first. If I really like the power improvement, then maybe I'll wait until my 2yr warranty expires before upgrading the cams.

My dealer installed my 255s and kept my warranty intact. There's no reason for him to mention I have 255s installed when he talks to a warranty rep.

You guys need to research the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The manufacturer/dealer has to prove that the failure was the direct result of the aftermarket part. Your dealer cannot void your warranty just because you install different cams.

If you look in the 2011 HD parts book on page 467 you will fine the SE255 & 254E Cams with the little Green Light ,,, You won't find them in the 07,08,09,or 10 Parts Book ,, I called HD in Milwaukee (414-343-4056),,This is what I was told "We have tested and tested these two Cams and found that they DON'T cause any more stress on the engine than the stock Cams so we decided to put the Cams in the 2011 Parts Book..

This is what I did ,,, Went to my Dealer (Service) opened the 2011 Parts Book to page 467 and ask about the GREEN LIGHT and Warrenty ,, Answer,, They did'nt know the Cams where in the 2011 Book,, They (service) call HD to get me a clear answer,,,, And the ANSWER WAS YES WARRENTY STILL GOOD,,, Hope this helps!!!

Well at least one person knows the truth....
Unfortunately no one cares what the truth is or what the law actually states. Most of them just make it up as they go along....

If my dealer denies me warranty for something that has nothing to do with my cam i would be pissed, I would change dealer...If it was directly related to my Andrews cams then i would be more reasonable.
