05 RK tranny linkage loose
I just noticed it while cleaning the bike. The last piece of linkage that goes into the tranny is extremely loose, but I tried to tighten it and it seems tight. Must be locktite. Can't loosen it either. I'm afraid it might strip the splined shaft coming out of the tranny. I also noticed the tranny is leaking a little where shaft comes out. Probably a seal going?
Anyone else having this problem? What is the fix? Thanks, Jim
P.S. bought the bike new, has 29,000 on it. never abused

Thanks for the info. Makes me wonder if it was a faulty part when new. I'm not a "hard" shifter. It didn't loosen. The allen screw that holds it is still tight. What a poor design to have to take the whole primary off just to replace that small arm.

If your not going to do the seal right now you can squirt the bolt real good with WD-40 let it sit over night bet it will break free, when it does pull the bolt clean it up put alittle assembly lube/grease under the head of the bolt locktight on the threads and re-install 9 time out of 10 it will tight up your sloppy arm problem. Don't ask me how I know, picked up on this tip on harley tech talk another forum.

Very common problem, it needs to be tighten ever 3 or 5 thousand miles.
If not the vibes will wear the cheep, cheep pot metal pinch arm. In the
back of my baggger mag. a company sell a mechined quality arm with 2
pinch bolts. And you use a drimel tool to cut the old cheeep pot metal
arm off, wihtout removing the primary. I have seen a youtube video on
R&R of the arm........Tenn.Vol.
