Cometic double lip seal is the way to go. Dave, maybe it's the weight of those mirrors!

Went thru the same thing with my old '06 Road Glide.Had the warranty so only HD parts went in.
The shift shaft was even replaced once due to a nick.
Others had better results using the Cometic seal.

Hey Dawg,

It ain't the six mirrors, it is the EIGHT (8) speakers

If it's the same shop doing the repair each time, I'd be asking them those questions.
If they can't answer it, I'd take it to a different shop. Treating the symptom isn't it... you want the cure.

I had this issue and TRIED to fix it myself. It still leaked like a sieve after my attempt. I let out shop mechanic have at it next and it has not leaked a drop since. I was not there when he did it so I am not exactly sure what he did but it fixed it. thank god! On his advice I no longer run Redline heavy in my tranny. He think that was the cause of the leak. Ask the mechanic of the shifter shaft bushing walked on the shaft. I am kind curious on this as mine had.
