Default HD heated grips

Are the stock HD heated grips really that bad or do people really just like to complain? Im looking to add heated grips to my 10 streetglide and the stock heated grips seem to be the easiest and even cheapest option. Do they really burn out as often as said here?

cheaper than heat demons? Keep your original grips and still have nice heat. I think its hit or miss on the HD grips. I had them on a bike for several years with no problem. My neighbors bike is 6 years old with no problem on the heated grips. I was looking to keep my original grips and heat demons are cheaper than HD grips...

I had at one time wonder the same also. So here's what I found out. Within six months after buying my SE Ultra, mine were toast. I too had read a lot of posts about others loosing their heat also. So I take it to the dealer for warranty repair and the shop foreman is pretty up front with the truth and he goes on just how crappy these heated grips are. He goes onto explain his thoughts. Says as the bike leans to the left and is the same side the heat control in on. Well, he feels the water, either rain or wash, goes over there, soaks it and eventually claims the life of it. Take it all for what it worth, but if I were installing grips, would be aftermarkets.

Well my brother has heated grips on his new Ultra and loves them. I guess new toys just have to learn how to play with them.

I have a set on my 07 RKC that have been on for over three years. I have over

53000 mi. on the bike and have ridden in rain and washed on numerous occasions and

still work fine.Just my experience.

Default heated grips

I love mine...17,000 miles last year. I use them a lot. Knock on wood...no problems at all.

Went through two sets on my '08. First set replaced under warranty. Second set replaced under ESP. Third time seems to be the charm. Have been on for probably 18 months and no problem out of this set.

I live in Florida, and I still use them a good bit.

I put'em on my wife's '06 FLSTN and then later on her current '09 FLHX. She LOVES them. When we she moved to the FLHX, the HD heated grips was the VERY FIRST mod she wanted! Never had any trouble with them on either scoot.
