Default Bub 7 slip on mufflers

Put bub 7s on a 2008 flhr and the sounded awesome to me. Replaced the '08 with a 2011 and slapped a new set of bub 7s expecting the same. Sounds like crap, not much louder than stock. Bub says they changed a little but the difference is the new exhaust design on the bike. Amy insight? Gotta fix something...

Thanks,

Tmac

It may be because there are new. I know my bubs sound alot better now after a riding season. A more deeper tone. And I do agree with the last guy that cat is in the way.

I put Bub 7's on my '09 RK a couple of years ago. They were (and are) the best sounding pipes (DEEP, loud but not over-the-top, zero cracking effect that so many really loud pipes can deliver) and my buddies comments are good confirmation as they are hearing them better than me riding on them.

I happened to have been next to a guy on a 2011 a few weeks ago at the dealership when we started our bikes - and he had installed the same slipons he just looked at me and said "Damn Cat! I didn't think about the effect when I put em on." (as you describe). Still a lot better tan stock, I think.

I put some on my '09 not longer after it was new & till love them no desire change. I really like the sound just right for me. I agree it could be cats in your headpipe attributing to some of it. Really like the slash up option with these.

New head pipes might help (because of the cat converter), here's what yours look like cut in half.

Thank you all, not good news. Guess I need to look into some head pipes. What do they run? And, any recommendations?

Thanks again,
Tmac

I had the bub 7 stealth on my 09 and sounded great, put them on my 2011 103" and they were much quieter. Solution, V&H power duals and reinstalled 7's great but not obnoxiuos sound. I think the Andrews 54 cams may have helped the sound a little.
