rear tire life and possible up grade to wider

About 5k ago I put on a set of Dunlop EIII's and they are holding up very well. Much better than the 402's I was running plus they handle great in the corners, rain, wherever. Last summer I got caught in a nasty rain storm, could hardly see. Was on an interstate with good distance in front of me when all of a sudden coming around a bend the traffic came to a sudden halt. I grabbed all the brake I could and stopped too close to the car in front of me but the tires handled great. Sure is hard in such a situation to remain mindful of the vehicles coming up behind you but I managed to keep control and off to the side of the car in front in case I needed to jump on the throttle. Don't think I will be switching to anything else.

The 402's are actually a good balance between wear life and grip. That's likely the reason MOCO went with them from factory. I still use them and get 17K at best. It's important to be almost **** about tire pressure. Solo riding 36 psi. Two up, 40 psi. You have to change the pressure imediately after making the switch. If you run 40 solo you will wear the center portion of the tread off in no time. keeping it at 36 keeps the tire a little bit more even instead of a bit rounded. I get better mileage out of my tires than anyone I know ... because they don't listen to me.....
