I would do cams or depending on mileage a big bore kit. Remember that old adage Chrome won't get you home... Looks are nice but performance is better IMHO.

I did the gear drive cams and Fueling oil pump and lifters with a Cobra FI2000 fuel controler for 1600.00 installed. Since have installed PCIII for more adjustment options. That also included a set of Rhinehart True Dual Headpipes i found with less than 100 miles on them. Since have added Kuryaken 8.5 windshield and the Kuryaken adjustable passenger pegs and some small bling items.

Depending on miles on your '03, it may be time for a timing chain tensioner anyway. While you are in there, replace the cams and add a Baisley oil pump spring.

You can get cams and 95" to 98" cylinders/pistons for well within your $ range.

1931jamesw, I don't think you were being a jerk. I use the search function constantly. I can purchase a light bulb without knowing everything about it and reading reviews! I just didn't have performance in mind this season. I have a carbed tc88 with stage 1 intake and slip ons. It has about 18000 miles on it now. I would love to put a 96" kit on it with cams and a nice exhaust.

Actually your big bore kit would put you at 95" and the 95's are a tried and true build and can be very powerful motors I might add. You would be gaining cubes with bigger pistons which is what a big bore kit is. HD went to a 96" by adding stroke, not bigger pistons. My 96" has the same size pistons as your 88", it has a longer stroke than your 88". So, If I go with bigger pistons, I would be at 103". See what Im saying?

What's with the hate? Everyone has their own view of what a ton of cash means to them. If that's a lot of money to him, then that's cool. To others it's not enough for them. To each his own dude. Joshuacannon have a great time spending "the ton"! Be safe
