I'm the ghostrider !!!!!
well left work the other day and got bout 4 miles when a guy in car next to me starts yelling "your bikes on fire!!".i look down to my right and a rag had gotten lodged in against the pipes and was indeed aflame. so i threw the stand down , parked bike in middle of road and went to extracting said rag. then proceeded to dance on rag in an attempt toput out fire therefore spreading fire to grass on median. finished dance, waved to waiting traffic and rode off into the sunset thinking maybe i should put a fire ext on bike.
any recc for a good compact ext??

Yeah. Take bottled water with you. You can drink and process it for a more directed and fine stream or you can just dump it from the bottle onto the fire.
All kidding aside, I can't imagine that this situation would occur enough that you would need to worry about it. In this case a rag, or even leaves or some such I would just speed up and let it burn, disintegrate and fall away from the bike. However, if your fuel line, for example, springs a leak, I would want to get away from it as soon as I could safely stop. No reason to kill yourself trying to extinguish a fire between your legs while riding and reaching for a chrome extinguisher that is mounted somewhere. This is what insurance is for.
