My order was: Seat, bars, in between a few minor accessories, wheels, exhaust, comfort touches as board extenders and odds and ends small chrome touches, then bigger as fairing, lowers, bag liners for trips and extra folding duffle. Once I had the look going I worked harder on performance and engine power. It will come together in it's own sweet time, you just have to push off for the first pieces.

Comfort over cool if you ride the bike more than 10 miles at a time. The seat and bars/grips are typically the first things replaced by RK owners.

If it's a new bike to you (I assume it is), I'd also look at having those cam chain tensioners checked/replaced since the bike is an '05. These have a high failure rate and you can't predict when they'll let go. IMO, Gucci wheels and tall apes do you little good with the bike sitting in the garage with a wrecked motor...

My $.02

I have to check the vin first for to see if it needs any recall work. I have 30,000 miles so am thinking of waiting till 40,000 till check the cam. For be being a 6 year old bike its a low mile bike. I figure it has been babied. The bike does not have alot of where marks. Ben

i think the bike looks good stock,i worried about those bars and when i bought my 04 i was so suprised at how well they fit me.i just orderd somes fish tails for mine cause i think they look great on the rk .im 6ft 1 and 230 lbs and the bump in the seat gets me right on the *** but after 2 weeks ive kinda adjusted my legs a little and im geting used to it.the heel toe shifter can be anoying. like you i came right off riding sports bikes for 25 years and this thing feels like a lincoln to me.what years are covered in the recall ?mines an 04 .good luck ...mike
