Default side play in shifter linkage

Does anyone here have side play in shifter linkage?...2003 Electraglide classic. Just wondering? Brought bike used and noticed it. At the rear part of the adjustment, where it attaches to an arm that goes down seems to have some slop sideways. Bike shifts fine, just wondering about it. don't see how one can take out the slop...it is like it need a washer or something. You really can't get down to where the arm goes down to the rear shaft. Also..wondering about what parts ( washer and spacers) are suppose to be on the shifter shaft between where the pinch bolts are and the case? Thanks

Yes, side play is normal.

HD makes a little chrome spring loaded spacer to minimize the slippage. Sorry I don't have a part number...but I have the part on my bike.

This problem is older than Harley. If you are talking about the rear tranny shift
linkage PICNCH BOLT! If you dont keep it tight the vibes will wear out the spline
teeth. I tighten the bolt with all I can get on it, PLUS 10 lbs. Tenn.Vol.
