Default Rinehart 4 inch slip-ons vs 3.5 inch

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me which pipe is louder, the older Rinehart 3.5 slip-ons, or the newer 4 inch pipes.

Thanks,
Matthew

Before I bought my pipes I called Rinehart to ask them.The guy I spoke with said they both have the same db rating,but the 4inch being larger the sound would sound deeper,and appear to be not as loud.

Thanks for the post Cowboy, that's exactly what I'm looking for. What did you end up buying?

that about sums it up, the deeper sound sounds superior to the 3.5 that tend to crack alot when you get on it.jd

3.5" = Raspy and loud

4.0" = Deep/low and not so loud

I had the 4 inch on my 2008 Electra classic. I have since swapped for an old dude ride. I have a 2008 Ultra that has been triked out with a roadsmith trike kit. I am waiting for warmer weather to install my V&H fuel pac, and V&H throttle pac. I already installed a Hyper Charger pro on it. Now for the exhaust. I am torn between the Rinehart true duels 4 inch. Or V&H 4.5 monster ovals? Any thoughts ? Any way you look at it, this won't be your typical grampa's trike,lol. If you go on the Roadsmith.com web site, my ride should be the trike of the month for January. It is red sunglow merlot with the flip/flop pinstripes. Just bought the trike after I got back from Sturgis, but so far I love it, and the wife says the ride for her is amazing.

I've had both, 09 Street Glide with 3 1/2" and 2012 RKC with 4". I find the 4" deeper sounding or more bass. I personally like the sound of both but like the looks of the 4" better though. I have chrome end caps on mine, pipes really look good. Got them off ebay from Eastern Performance for $479 shipped.

Better measure again, the Monster Ovals measure 5 1/4" across at the tips. I just removed mine for the MGS Duals/Mufflers but will miss those wide tips.

I have the 4" and my buddy just installed the 3.5". Side by side at idle the 4" have a slightly deeper, yet more hollow sound due to the bigger diameter. The 3.5" have a little tighter thump IMO. Decibel level is about the same. Twist the wick and it is honestly hard to tell the difference between the two.
