Default twin cam motors not worth much

was thinking about going the 120r route but cancelled the idea when I checked ebay and seen my ol motor is only worth peanuts., here is a link to one listed that is virtually brand new, I thought they would fetch about $3000 but I guess not

Doesn't look like any bids either.

Looks like a good buy for someone needing a new motor and wanting to stay stock.

Default Vtwin pricing

Well it is probably still worth twice as much as a used 120R with my luck.

That does hurt your feelings a little. I'm thinking about going to the 120R also, hadn't given much thought about the old motor, just looking at price comparison of building mine up or replacing it.

Did you REALLY expect more when the 120R is only 5500?

stock 96 should get ya about $2000, check the completed listings and there have been quite a few sold for around that amount.

I find it interesting how many folks are selling their take out engines. I am putting mine on the shelf for two reasons.
1. The SE 120R is a race engine. If I hurt it bad I can put the original engine back in the bike while I fix the 120R.
2. Resale, should I decide to sell the bike, I would keep the 120R for some future application. I will be about $8500 into the project to install this engine in my 06 dyna, I don't think leaving it in the bike will add that much to the resale value. If I sell the bike, I will take off the major parts of the upgrade and keep them for future use.

I was in the same boat.. My bike has 110,000 miles.. Rather than buy a new bike, I bought a S&S crate motor while they were on sale last year... Got a knock out price.... My T111 in a "square" motor @ four & one eighth.. My old extra engine will get reworked in a couple years into an over-square four & one-eighth bore with stock four inch flywheel assembly..

The T111 is not a race engine and will be perfect for my application, as will the refreshed 107 when the S&S goes into a rolling chassis or old used FLTR.. The new engine is being installed at this time..
